Today is a day that my friends and I have been strategizing about for months, today the hotel reservation system for Comic Con open up. I love today and I hate today. Six of us are going this year and four of us are going to brave the system today – for the last two years the system has crashed, completely and utterly. There are four of us who have gone together for the last few years – the first year we all got the same hotel, last year we were about six blocks away.

Getting the right hotel can make or break your Comic Con experience. I don’t think our expectations are that high – we all want to be at the same hotel and within walking distance. Our first choice is the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. There’s a Starbucks in the lobby, it’s located right next to a mall (complete with a See’s candy!) which has a food court and a bookstore, and our favorite place for breakfast is right around the corner.

I love this hotel, it has great memories and it’s so convenient. I really hope we get our rooms here today, we’ve devised an elaborate plan. I am armed with a bookmark in my browser, credit card information and hotel list at the ready but I feel anxious just thinking about it.

Cross your fingers for me – I’m sure I’ll be back to celebrate or mourn later…
