I really had a hard time finding this book – I had spotted one evening in the bookstore but hadn’t bought it, and then when I went back to find it (without the title or author name) the staff at Booksamillion kept pointing me to the romance section and I’m not big on romance – I liked that it had seemed a little dark, a little Gothic. Then a month or so later, I found it in the bestseller section.
This book was a fast and easy read that I really enjoyed. The characters are beautifully flawed and the setting has a beautiful symmetry for me to the actual story – the stark white Wisconsin winter, the gritty streets of Saint Louis, and then the hopeful spring blooms. There is one plot point I found a little confusing, one point towards the last third of the book that kept nagging at me that kept me from completely being able to immerse myself in this book. All in all, an enjoyable read.
