This was my first steam punk book ever – I found it through a friend who sent me a link and said “what do you think of this?” and then I ended up reading it, he did not. I really enjoyed this book, I liked the characters that were very well developed. I like the tough as nails women who reminded me of cactus flowers, thriving and blooming even in thorny conditions. My only complaint is that after this introduction, this taste, I want more! I wanted to see if the prediction about what would happen to the Blight gas came to pass or if after the war between the States the government got in there to deal with it, I wanted to know what kind of life lay ahead for the characters I got so attached to. In other words, as always with a good book – it’s just never enough! My only complaint is that I felt like the book dragged a bit in places, I think it was the thoroughness to paint a very specific picture of the world the author sometimes got lost in the details, but overall it was really a great book.
